About Us

Our Story

College Prep Academy was founded by Chameeta Denton, an accomplished higher education leader, grant writer, and lifelong educator with a passion for unlocking the academic potential of students from all walks of life. Since 2010, Chameeta has tutored and coached students in grades 1–12 and at the college level, specializing in advanced coursework and college preparation.

A Journey in Education

Her professional path has spanned California, Houston, and Louisiana, where she has guided thousands of students toward academic achievement, successful college admissions, and personal growth.

Chameeta has also lived and taught abroad, giving her a global perspective on education. Her expertise includes securing competitive grants including a $1.36M federal grant and a $50K state grant to expand student support programs and bridge educational gaps.

Meet Our Awesome Academic Coaches

Hello! My name is Ryan Bowers, and I am UC Berkeley alumni with a degree in Chemistry and a passion for mentorship and coaching. I have over 5 years of experience mentoring youth in many different areas, including STEM classes, 3D printing, chess, leadership, “adulting” skills, and more. I have become inspired and motivated by seeing lives changing in our next generation. As a fun fact, I also play drums, piano, and bass, and I have been a part of many marching bands and concert bands! Otherwise, as a fun fact, I have never tasted coffee before, and I plan on never having it just so I can keep the fun fact.

Jasmine has more than seven years of experience helping students tackle the SAT and ACT and reach their academic goals. She has worked as a writer and editor, and as a project manager in the renewable energy industry (where she was excited to be able to apply math concepts like SOHCAHTOA to solving real world problems!). She loves gardening and playing the djembe.

A proud mother to a brilliant toddler, Chameeta brings both her nurturing spirit and her deep understanding of child development into everything she does. She believes education is not just about grades it’s about instilling curiosity, confidence, and resilience. This vision is what led her to create College Prep Academy, where students are equipped with the skills, strategies, and mindset needed to thrive and gain admission to top-tier colleges and universities.
